22 Jun ‘Tis The Season … to save some money!
Merry Christmas and happy holidays to Everyone!
The Christmas season is upon us and everyone seems anxious to buy those loved ones the perfect gifts. While it is a great time to give presents, it is also a great time to keep your finances in check. Here are some helpful hints:
- Make a list of all of the holiday expenses you expect to have ie: gifts, food, travelling, wrapping paper, decorations and then create a budget for all of these expenses and stay within it for each item, especially gifts;
- Encourage gift exchanges between friends and family members with a reasonable limit;
- Be sure to check the spare closet for those gifts that you put away throughout the year for your loved ones. We often find ourselves giving more gifts to our family because we forgot what we had tucked away; and
- Get a head start on next year’s Christmas by putting money away each month. Spreading the cost of Christmas over 12 months is more financially manageable and gives you more time to enjoy the season when it does arrive; and don’t forget the good deals on wrapping paper after Christmas for next year.
Don’t be stressed by your Christmas bills by maxing your credit cards – max your Christmas spirit instead!
Everyone at McLennan & Company Ltd. would like to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and the best in 2013!
